Again, it doesn't have to be your students day on Friday to donate, we will be doing lots of activities in class to learn about universal basic needs all week, and relating this to our act of kindness through raising money from our bake sale!!! Give me an email if your up for donating some baking :)

SPRING BREAK!!

A call for volunteers .... BAKE SALE???

I know last year, my 5/6 class took on the toy sale, and it is allot of work. We did reach our 900 dollar goal, from the toy sale and through other classrooms having fundraisers and donating the money. ( Mrs. Muirhead's class had a popcorn sale and donated the money to the foster children campaign)
If our kinder parents are up to it... I would like to propose that the kinder classes combine to show our support and help the LSIN group raise the 900 dollars, through a bake sale out of our classroom.

I would like to have this on Friday, April 5th. If parents and families can donate baked goods, as well as have some volunteers to help us work the bake sale it would be appreciated...

Not only do we show our support,  but it also involves our kids to have a hands on experience with learning empathy, and helping them become global citizens.  We will also be doing activities around needs vs. wants this week in class for our social studies unit.

Please let me know if you are willing to donate some baking, even if it is not your child's kinder day,  donations can be dropped off first thing in the morning.

The website for foster plan Canada is http://plancanada.ca/.   Check it out.

check out this video for more information

again please let me know if you would like to be a part of our class fundraiser to help support the LSIN group in reaching their goal.

TCS Toy Sale

TCS, for the last 10 years has sponsored 2 children through Foster plan Canada.

The money  raised helped these children receive medicine, education, clean water and latrines and to improve children’s rights in their communities.

Toy Sale

Families are asked to donate and bring in toys and books that they are no longer using until April 5th - so do some spring cleaning over break!!

A toy sale will be held in the pit from April 9th to 12th  where kids can come and purchase the toys.  All proceeds will go towards our 2 Foster children.

This year LS!N has offered to run the toy sale.  If we reach our goal of $900.00 by April 12th, Mr. Sheppard and Mr. Rapsky have agreed to have their heads shaved!

Stick bugs

It's week we brought in the stick bugs. The green class helped design a home for them, deciding that they needed dirt for the ground, sticks to climb on... Since they are called stick bugs, a lid with holes so they have air to breathe, as well as make sure they have lots of lettuce to eat.

We spent time observing the stick bugs in a science center, and drew pictures of the stick bugs in our science books. Some brave kids even wanted to hold them.... And found out that they tickle!

The blue class was just as excited, and decided to name the biggest bug "Big Bertha". We are excited to have these bugs in our classroom and look forward to seeing them shed their skin, grow and lay eggs so we have baby's!

Happy st. Patrick's day!

We had a busy week in our kinder classes!

It was so nice to be back In the classroom with the kids all day Thursday and Friday....
We had lots of activities in math and literacy having to do with st. Patrick's day.

We talked about Ireland, the Irish, four leaf clovers, Shamrocks and rainbows.

We also had a visit from mischievous Lanny the Leprechaun. He caused chaos in the classroom, and we tried hunting him down in the school, but all we found was some jello, lucky charms, tattoos, a lucky coin and note.

Mr. Sheppard also came in to visit the blue class and told us he was Irish... It's caused some excitement and he was even asked if he was the leprechaun, and also why his dad has such small feet, hehehe.

Here are some pictures of the mess Lanny left, our hunt where we followed the shamrocks as well as some notes that the kinder's wrote to him. We also had fun being creative in making some traps!
